Short answer

Levi lies 170 kilometers north of Rovaniemi. By bus, the journey takes 2 to 2.5 hours and costs approximately €37 to €38 per person. Buses run daily from the bus station in the city center. From Rovaniemi Airport, first take the Airport Express to the city center. A taxi takes about 2 hours and 15 minutes. There is no train to Levi.

By bus

Buses operated by Eskelisen Lapin Linjat and LaplandTours run daily all year round between Rovaniemi and Levi. You can book via Matkahuolto.

From Rovaniemi Airport

The airport is located approximately 10 kilometers from the bus station. The Airport Express runs between the airport, the city center, and Santa Claus Village. Cash payments are not accepted. Allow enough time between your landing and the bus to Levi.

By taxi or private transfer

A taxi from Rovaniemi Airport to Levi takes about 2 hours and 15 minutes. That is considerably more expensive than the bus, but convenient for a group or with a lot of luggage. Ask for a fixed price in advance.

With the rental car

By car, the drive is 170 kilometers, usually via Road 79 over Kittilä. Allow 2 to 2.5 hours, depending on the weather. Watch out for reindeer on the road and drive with winter tires. You can read everything about driving in winter in rent a car in Lapland.

And by train?

There is no train to Levi. The nearest station is Kolari, 80 kilometers from Levi. A bus connects with every train. The night train from Helsinki to Kolari departs at 20:24 and arrives at 10:55.

Or fly directly to Kittilä
